Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. My name is Mrs. Walker. However, I recently got married :-). Therefore, you might hear me referred to Ms. Holloway on occasion. I am one of the 7th grade math teachers at SCMS. I am originally from Asheville, NC. I moved to Charlotte a little over 6 years ago. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in Apparel and Textiles and a minor in Marketing. I received my Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Middle Grades Math from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
I have always had a strong desire to become a teacher because of the impact teachers have made in my life. In fact, it was my high school Apparel Construction teacher who helped me recognize and refine my talents in fashion design and clothing construction. This eventually led me to receive my undergraduate degree in fashion from ASU. Despite my success and interest in fashion, I did not find it fulfilling because it did not guide me to the classroom, where I ultimately belong. However, my experiences in the world of fashion did help me recognize the vast necessity and value of math in all aspects of life.
When I am not teaching, I am involved in a multitude of different activities. I enjoy cooking, reading, crafting, swimming, riding roller-coasters, being outdoors, hiking, fishing, watching movies (but, not scary movies), volunteering, and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends. I love dogs (well, animals in general), chocolate, and flowers :-).
